Royal Blood Manchester Ritz November 02nd 2014

Third time seeing the amazing Royal Blood - first time at Summer in the City, Manchester, second at Leeds Festival and now lucky to get tickets to see them at the Ritz in Manchester. Felt really pleased to actually get tickets as they sold out in minutes, if not seconds - like getting the Golden Ticket. Fantastic gig - brilliant songs - so much energy. Short gig but really intense. look forward to next time.

..."Throw in songs of the calibre of Careless and Little Monster and the effect is to thrill an audience that could have been forgiven for wondering if they’d ever again have such fun at a new rock band’s gig. The mosh pit stretches halfway down the venue; clothes and shoes fly through the air and the crowd even “sing” the riff to the swaggering Figure It Out. By the end, with the drummer in the audience and Kerr gazing over proceedings like a general surveying a famous victory, it’s hard to argue with his conclusion that “Manchester, this is what it’s all about.”  The Guardian review

Andrea Zapp - Manchester Art Gallery

http://www.andreazapp.com/

The Foundation Diploma in Art & Design students ventured to Manchester on a visual research trip for their new project 'Urban Landscape'.
The brief: to photograph the urban landscape of Manchester for visual inspiration. We were lucky that our visit (planned around the UCAS Design your Future Fair at the Manchester Convention Center) coincided with the exhibition of Andrea Zapp's fantastic garments at the Manchester Gallery - perfect to show how digital imagery inspired by Urban Landscapes and art have been transformed into beautiful garments.

'Captured around the world, fashioned in Manchester: internationally renowned and Manchester-based media and textile artist Andrea Zapp reveals her first luxury womenswear collection. Working with scenes and photography from her global travels, Zapp has used urban views, rural panoramas, miniature scenarios and objects of culture and curiosity to create a visual portfolio which forms the essence of each stunning hand-made silk dress.
For this exhibition, Zapp has designed three exclusive limited edition dresses, using photographs of objects from the gallery’s decorative arts collection in striking new pattern narratives.
Each dress also features in a unique online map interface that enables you to view the original worldwide location and background story for each photographic artwork via its GPS coordinates'.

Land Art - Foundation Degree in Creative Art & Design Practice students

Buxton & Leek College Foundation Degree in Creative Art & Design Practice yr 1 students - inspired by the Land Art of Andy Goldsworth ventured out in the rain (really should perhaps plan this in in September not November) to create Land Art. Successful session even in the driving rain and mud.

The brief:  to create art works using fallen objects - no trees, Flora or Fauna, wild life, ducks were to hurt in the making of these art works, no danger to the public
general dog walkers in Brough Park and art works to disperse naturally
