Went to Summer in the City at the Castlefield Bowl, Manchester on the 10th July. Fantastic gig.
Loved the Pixies for a long time seen them twice before - always brilliant. 'Royal Blood' - a new discovery so very excited to see them live for the first time and not so familiar with Maximo Park but heard they are good live so again - excited! Couldn't have been better - great venue for the gig, outdoor, lovely warm, sunny evening.
Got front row to see Royal Blood - not a massive crowd, as they started at 6.20, and people still arriving. ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT- drums and bass...amazing!! cant wait to see them again at Leeds Festival.
Good spot so decided to stay at front for Maximo Park. Again great. Paul Smith really good front-man - energetic, entertaining, brilliant to watch. Not normally right at the front for main band when I go to gigs - quite short and scared of getting squashed but you only live once and seeing as was at the front already decided to stay for the Pixies. Blimey - crushed or what!! Felt like I was going to get moshed to death - hideous and so busy concentrating on staying up right that I wasn't really concentrating on the Pixies...so after taking a few quick photos decided to get out of the hell mosh pit and watch in a more civilised fashion where I can stand up and concentrate on singing along!! Really brilliant gig. :))
